about

Coming soon on CD and 7" via Forbidden Place Records.

"....Such a no-frills approach allows the Minneapolis band’s core elements to charge even harder and dirtier. Their self-titled debut—which at seven songs and 14 minutes I suppose is an EP, but it’s 2016 and are we really still that concerned with the semantics of format?—is more or less a perfect distillation of that difficult-to-name subgenre that triple-parks its giant van over the punk, hardcore and sludge metal spaces, touching each white line in the process..."

-BRYNE YANCEY - THE RUNOUT

"I want my independent rock n roll music to sound like this. Low end fuzz like the WHIP, soaring and distant lead vox yearning to break free like DASHER, and a guitar attack that just nails heavy psych-punk. And TONGUE PARTY just fukkn jams like a full throttle freight train on wide-open tracks. Full cream status. It's over before it really sinks in....so your only option is repeat listens."

- ROBERT COLLINS - MAXIMUM ROCKNROLL (#395 APRIL 2016)

"This rips. The guitars are fuzzy, the vocals are faded, and the riffs are chunky and unrelenting. It got stuck in my head. It's fuller and more cohesive than what I would call straight-up punk (also it has guitar solos), but it nonetheless manages to lend a hardcore sensibility to it's hard-rocking and sludge metal tendencies. Like if The Damned only played riffs and was fronted by a stoned ghost. It's tight."

RAZORCAKE - JULY 2016

"Minneapolis punk quartet Tongue Party released a pretty great self-titled EP last year, a seven track, fourteen-minute cassette party that’s all unintelligible yelling and restlessly propulsive riffs that have me dancing in my seat even as I’m here typing at you. No idea what all the echo-y yelling is about – drugs, I guess? – but that’s not the point. Nor does it matter whether the minute-long fuzz of “Richard Flair” has anything to do with pro wrestling’s Nature Boy. Tongue Party's fifteen-minute live set will leave you craving more."

-MATTHEW LAWRENCE - PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND

"I found Tongue Party earlier today. And I was so impressed I created this whole damn section just so I had somewhere to put them and talk about them. It feels like these guys kicked my door down and just started beating me in the face with riffs upon riffs. And I’m super glad that happened by the way. It’s a constant onslaught, there’s no letting up and that’s just the way I like it.
Their record is self titled and it costs like $2.50 (that’s around £2 with VAT added on, folks around here). Therefore I’m going to proclaim this as my BARGAIN FIND OF 2016. I know it’s early. But I’m not going to get anything better than this for £2, I tell you.
I really bloody hope these guys make it over to the UK sometime."
